Our Team Bios
David Cross
David Cross, a graduate of Worcester State University and Massachusetts born and raised. David has worked in human services for over ten years in a variety of positions and brings a wealth of knowledge to Civitas including extensive training in PATH, MAP, and essential lifestyle planning. David enjoys overlanding through California in his Jeep with his wife, Rebeca, and trusty companion, a 13 year old mutt named Nelly, as well as golfing and cooking.
Michael Di Carlo
Michael Di Carlo, a graduate of University of Massachusetts Amherst has lived in San Diego for over a decade. Michael has worked in management for over 10 years with a focus on business growth as well as staff development. Michael enjoys spending time with friends and family, his dog teddy, and cooking.
Jose Alvarado
Born in Colorado Springs, Colorado and raised in Southern California, Jose first became interested in human services after joining the best buddies program in high school. After high school Jose worked in kitchens untill realizing he needed something more rewarding and fulfilling. Jose became a direct support professional and has been supporting people throughout San Diego for the past ten years. In his free time Jose enjoys listening to music, cooking and spending time in his art studio.
Norm
Norman is a friendly, kind, and helpful man who enjoys his independence. Norman is a great cook and enjoys sharing his culinary skills with friends, family, and staff.
Mera
Mera is a student at San Diego State University and is getting her bachelor's degree in psychology. Mera is very passionate about getting her Law degree in the next few years. She enjoys being a lash extensions artist and does it in her free time.
Bruce
Bruce is a kind man who values and enjoys his life and works hard to maintain his independence. Bruce enjoys dancing, listening to music, and going to the gym. Bruce also enjoys going on walks around his community and attends his community's farmer’s market.
Patrick
Patrick McBride, a Massachusetts transplant that’s lived in San Diego for 12 years. He has been in this field 5 years and says it’s the most rewarding thing he’s ever done and incredibly grateful for all the friends and families he’s met along the way! Patrick plays live music in his free time on the weekends, you can see him every month at Hennessey’s in La Jolla!
Drew
Drew is a happy and imaginative young man who loves going to his drama classes. He and his brother Josh really enjoy playing different characters from movies or books. Drew enjoys listening to music while he’s getting work done at the volunteering sites as it helps him focus on the task.
Nahid
Nahid moved to the United States in 2018 and became interested in human services after working with a down syndrome client for a year, that was when Nahid realized her passion in the field and started going out of her way to make her clients live their lives to the fullest. Nahid is very passionate about baking and is a part-time baker.
